Who or what is United Life?
United Life is a group of people who believe that the world we live in is not doing so well—falling apart actually. Yet we are also a group drawn together by our belief that God loves the world and has called us to participate in his work of transforming the lives, cultures, and structures of the Greater Seattle area for good. While this work can and will take on many forms, we believe that this primarily means helping people build relationships with God through Jesus Christ. We see this as essentially a journey, and we go to the following waypoints to keep us on track:
Critical yet Constructive Thinking
We value thinking deeply and seeking greater understanding. Good questions are encouraged, no matter how hard they are to answer. We definitely don’t believe in just going along with everyone else.
Creativity and Compassion
We believe that God has called us to love, and we have a hard time imagining doing that when these two ingredients are not present. With that in mind, we aim to unleash every ounce of our collective creativity and compassion in everything that we do.
Transparency and Truth
We think that we’re all way too comfortable with building facades and hiding behind them, and we believe that this is not the way God meant us to be. Although it can be pretty uncomfortable at times, we think that, both individually and collectively, it’s better to be open than to look good.
Jesus Christ
We believe that all of this starts and ends with him: hearing about him, having a relationship with him, and following him.
